Here are some links for using to help you use context clues for vocabulary

Helpful ways in using context clues and other parts of the paragraph.

What is a context clue? A way to find out a new or unusual word is by using context clues. Context clues mean using a word or information around the word you do not know to find the definition. Sometimes reading the whole paragraph can help as well. You may read on and find that the paragraph will tell you the definition of the word or explain it better.

- Punctuation marks may help you understand how the word is being used in the sentence
- Key words may also help, such as “or” and “that is”, by hinting the definition is nearby
- Some words may mean different than the literal meaning. For example, “under the weather” means that you feel sick
